10 years...a fine selection!!!

Monday 29th...our anniversary....would you believe it... bloody well rained. So we decided to potter off for a late but leisurely breakfast and watch the world go buy. Took a damp walk around the Botanic Gardens and Brussels park where we added Chiff, a couple of Firecrest and a very nice Peregrine to our list....total count of 17 birds...!

We had a wonderful weekend doing a bit of people watching....which I find is always enhanced with a beer! So here are some of my iPhone shots....of my beers ! 

Ste thinks that all that beer drinking has given him super powers!

We never did make it to the Underpants Museum....may be another time !

Sunday...yup...more beer & chocolates .....after a good selection of grog...we started to see little blue men! 

Ste tried to pretend that he was a tree.....

I found Snowy and spent a great deal of the day saying 'Herges Adventures of TinTin' !!!!!

For my lovely mate Di....I found the ultimate G&T Guide.....

On the subject of Chocolate...I spent a little while with my nose squashed against the window at Godiva...until the Moose dragged me away! 

On our meander we walked slap bang into the middle of a very large animal rights protest...mostly veg heads..so I was compelled to join in for solidarities sake....well they were going in the same direction as me!  If it would have been in London half the Met would have been on the street! In Brussels a few trendy policeman slouched nonchalantly against their cars chatting !  

Spent 25 mins on a stationary metro train which eventually became a shortcut for people getting from one platform to another......so we ended up shrugging our shoulders and getting off...perhaps it's a pass time in Brussels....get on the train...sit down...spot someone you know..give them a kiss...chat for 5 mins...shrug when you realise the train is not going any where...pick up your belongings and hop off!

We were going in search of briefs ! 

Klack, Puppets and a Firecrest

Saturday seemed to  go by in a bit of a blur....a toursit one...not a beer induced one...though I have to say the old Belgium grog is a bit on the potent side! The Moose and I have stomped around the tourists sites in the lower town...stopping at suitable points for chocolates and beers !!! It is not a destination for the dieting amongst us...far to many temptations...added Waffles, Ice-cream, biscuits and cakes to the guilty pleasure list! OMG I will need to starve for a month!

We both thought the decor made it look like someone had been murdered....lots of red blotches on the wall...!!!!

We spent a pleasant hr in the garden of the Toone Puppet Theatre.....

where his nibs managed to spy a Firecrest hopping about in a tree! Though that Klack beer is at 8% so I have my doubts! 

We did consider engaging in a bit of private clubbing....whatever that might  be....

But his nibs was just a bit too weary......

That was Saturday.....not an underpant in sight....as yet ! 

Underpants and Squirrels!

Well...we are packed...you would think we are going for a week!!! 

My proposal to put a visit to the Underpants Museum on the reserve list, has attracted comments from a number of quarters....I have been advised to check the number of said garments that Ste possess before and after our trip.....sarcastic comments have been levied on my ability to party.....and even more strangely a photo of a squirrel in underpants....only from you Mary...my fellow ranger! 

Suggestions have been made that we could fit a significant number in his Tuba...yes thank you for that Alison...on that subject...The Moose has gleefully informed me that you can take a Musical Instrument on Eurostar as long as it's not more than 2 meters high....and it's gets it own seat...mine apparently!...I'm in the luggage car! 

What....a holiday with no birds!!!!

This weekend the Moose and I are off to Brussels for our 10th Wedding Anniversary.....Tin apparently...think I have a can of Heinz 57 for my present! A short trip....no birds to be spotting...one of those rare moments when we leave the bins behind...well probably not!!

Brussels....a city of many attractions..most notably....beer and chocolates...which I am sure we will consume in hearty and equal measure! For the Moose they have a 'Radiology Museum' and a 'Museum of Musical Instruments'....nope the Tuba is not coming with us!  Though my suggestion that we visit these hallowed institutes of culture have been met with a certain look..!

I have been busy sorting out our itinerary ...well stops at brewers and chocolatiers mostly....though I am starting to think in order to fit everything in we will be awake from Saturday morning right through to Monday night! I will be on the look out for Tintin and Snowy...and for a brief cultural moment...a bit of art nouveau....Horta....

If we do get stuck for something to do I have up my sleeve visits to the .....Sewers Museum....Street Lamp Museum ...and for the piece de resistance.....the Underpants Museum !!!! I kid you not!

So...if we remain upright, sober and not overdosed on chocolate....there may be further entries to follow...who knows!!!
